HONOURABLE SHEKU BADARA BASIRU DUMBUYA (ORSL)
Honourable Sheku Badara Basiru Dumbuya was elected Speaker of Parliament pursuant to Section 79(1) of the Constitution of Sierra Leone (Amendment) Act 2013 passed in Parliament on 19th November, 2013.
As a Member of Parliament from 2002 to date the Honourable Sheku Badara Basiru Dumbuya served as Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business and served also as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Appointment and the Public Service.
Before his election to Parliament, Honourable Sheku Badara Basiru Dumbuya had a long distinguished and dedicated Service to the nation particularly as Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria in 1985. He was appointed Ambassador extra-ordinary and Plenipotentiary to China, covering the Philippines, North Korea, Pakistan, Australia, Japan and Bangladesh. While in China, Honourable Sheku Badara Basiru Dumbuya served as Dean (Head) of the Commonwealth Group of Ambassadors, Dean of the African Asian Group of Ambassadors and served also as Deputy Dean of the African Group of Ambassadors.
Until his present appointment as Speaker, the Honourable Sheku Badara Basiru Dumbuya was a Member of the Pan-African Parliament and served there as Head of the Sierra Leone delegation.
Honourable Sheku Badara Basiru Dumbuya was decorated with the State Honour of the Order of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
